Maintenance precautions for laser cutting machines - how to perform daily maintenance on laser cutting machines

Any machine must be maintained during use. The stability and normal operation of the machine are inseparable from daily maintenance. The correct maintenance method can not only improve the working efficiency of the laser cutting machine, but also extend the service life of the laser machine, which can better save production costs and win greater benefits. The laser cutting machine is also a consumable, because the life of the equipment will gradually decrease while it is constantly running, so we need to do regular maintenance work. So how should we maintain the laser cutting machine on a daily basis?

1. Cleaning of dust removal device

After long-term use of the dust removal device of the laser cutting machine, a lot of solid dust will accumulate in the fan, resulting in loud noise, odor, and unsmooth exhaust, which is not conducive to exhaust. When the fan smoke is not smooth due to insufficient suction, turn off the power first, discharge the fan into the air duct and air duct, remove the dust inside, and then install the fan, pull out the air duct blades inside until it is clean, and then install the fan.

2. Cleaning of the work surface

Regularly wipe the dirt on the work surface with a detergent to reduce the dirt remaining on the work surface and being rolled into the machine, causing jamming.

The dust inside the machine tool needs to be cleaned every week. Use an air gun to clean the dust cover, drag chain, electrical cabinet and dust on the sheet metal inside the machine tool. Clean the air path components inside the cutting head cover and the cutting head. Note that it is recommended to use a smaller air pressure or blow dust from a farther distance when cleaning the cutting head. Clean the cutting head waste and iron slag on the guide rails of the workbench to reduce the chain problems caused by the movement of the equipment exchange table.

Regularly clean the iron slag of the support bar. Too much iron slag on the work surface will cause the plate to be placed unevenly, causing shaking during cutting, and will cause the stability of the cut plate and anti-slag on the back. When the support table is cut for a long time and there is a large loss, a limit alarm will appear. It is recommended to make the support table in advance and replace it in time.

3. Cleaning and refueling of machine tool guide rails and racks

Regularly add lubricating oil to the laser cutting machine to reduce mechanical wear and noise.

Guide rails and linear axes are one of the core components of laser cutting machines, which play a guiding and supporting role. Laser cutting machines produce a lot of corrosive dust and smoke during processing of the workpieces. These smoke and dust are deposited on the surface of guide rails and linear axes for a long time, which has a great impact on the processing accuracy of the equipment. The gear racks need to be maintained every quarter.

Open the dust cover to clean the oil and foreign matter on the racks and guide rails. After cleaning, wipe off the excess diesel and apply a layer of gear lubricating oil. Regularly check whether the lubricating oil in the equipment oil pot is lower than the alarm line, and add lubricating oil in time to avoid long-term lack of oil, which will cause equipment wear and change in accuracy.

4. Water change and cleaning of chillers

Whether it is tap water or circulating water pump, the cooling water must be kept unobstructed and the water flow must be maintained. The quality and temperature of circulating water directly affect the service life of the laser and cutting head. It is recommended to use pure water and keep the water temperature below 35℃. (If in an environment below freezing point, prevent the circulating water from freezing in the laser tube and drain the water completely after the machine stops. When the camera power is turned on, the laser current must be preheated for more than 5 minutes before it can work.)

Inspect the filter and heat sink every week, clean the dust and foreign matter on them; check the water tank level, and replenish water in time when the level is low; remove dust and dirt from the outside of the equipment. Inspect and replace the medium (distilled water) every quarter; check and clean the dirt in the liquid tank to ensure good cooling effect; PP cotton must be replaced and the resin tank must be replaced.

Cleaning the water tank: First turn off the power, remove the water inlet pipe, let the laser tube automatically enter the water tank, open the water tank, and pump water to remove the dirt on the water pump. Clean the water tank, replace the circulating water, restore the water pump back to the water tank, insert the connecting pipe into the water inlet of the water pump, and tidy up the joint. Use the pump power supply alone and run for 2 to 3 minutes (the laser tube is full of circulating water).

Note: The maintenance of the chiller must be carried out at least 5 minutes after the chiller power is turned off to avoid the risk of water spraying and electric shock. Before the machine works, it must be ensured that the laser tube is full of circulating water.

5. Lens cleaning (it is recommended to turn off the cleaning equipment before going to work every day)

After the machine has been working for a period of time, due to the working environment, there will be a layer of gray on the lens surface, which will reduce the reflectivity of the reflective lens and the transmittance of the lens, and ultimately affect the working power of the laser.

Note: It should be removed gently to prevent it from falling; wipe the lens surface gently clockwise with cotton wool, and do not damage the surface coating; When installing the focusing lens, please be sure to keep the concave side down.
